The new Star Award program provides the support and encouragement paddlers need to get out and paddle.
The initial awards are generic, encouraging paddlers to experiment with the various Paddlesport disciplines available, with “specialist” paddlers awarded the Three Star Award.
The emphasis of these initial rewards is the development of personal skills and independence.
Sea Kayak Sardinia offers BCU Star Test Training and one, two and three star ratings.
1 Star – A flat water award that demonstrates that an individual has basic boat control and foundation skills. The one star can be taken in any kind of paddlesport craft.
2 Star – An improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding into how the paddle, boat and water-interact. Training and assessment available for both.
1 Star Training and Assessment (6 hr) – 90€
2 Star Training and Assessment (2 days, 6.5hrs per day) – 170€
This is the new 3 Star course as of the 1st September 2007. Gaining the award demonstrates that you are a competent journeying on the sea, in calm to moderate seas with winds less than force 3.
3 Star Training (2 days, 7 hrs per day) – 185€
3 Star Assessment (1 day, 6.5 hrs) – 90€
